PUTATAN: The State Public Works Department (JKR) will act swiftly to address road damage, including routes that have been cut off due to recent flooding in several districts. Deputy Chief Minister III cum Work Minister Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya said JKR is currently identifying reports related to road damage caused by the disaster.

“JKR is in the process of identifying complaints and assessing road damage caused by the floods.

Our current priority is to urgently address emergency situations, such as severed routes due to this disaster.

“We will either repair or establish a safe temporary route, ensuring that any roads disrupted by flooding can be reconnected.

“If the damage is extensive, design works will be taken into account and restoration efforts will be carried out accordingly,” he said, after officiating the Putatan District Chap Goh Mei celebration.

On the first Sabah and Sarawak Project Intervention Meeting held last month, Shahelmey said one of the key discussion points was identifying the causes of project delays.

As a follow-up, monthly monitoring meetings would be held to identify projects that could be resumed.

“In total, 400 projects fall under this category, including those previously terminated but now set for revival.

We are requesting a breakdown to determine which projects have yet to commence,” he said.
